Job Summary

Equity Afya in Gachie is looking for a qualified and registered Pharmaceutical Technologist to manage and dispense medications, provide pharmaceutical information, and ensure compliance with regulations. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in a hospital or pharmacy setting, possess strong computer and communication skills, and be dedicated to providing excellent patient care.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Accurately dispense medications according to prescriptions issued by healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain accurate records of all medications dispensed, received, and stored in the pharmacy.
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of pharmaceutical products, adhering to established guidelines and regulations.
  • Provide clear and concise information to patients on the proper use, dosage, potential side effects, and storage of their medications.
  • Counsel patients on over-the-counter (OTC) medications and other health-related products.
  • Manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering, receiving, and storing medications to prevent stockouts and expiry.
  • Participate in stocktaking and ensure the accuracy of pharmaceutical inventory.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe pharmacy environment.
  • Adhere to all regulations and guidelines set forth by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board.
  • Collaborate effectively with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Assist in the preparation of pharmaceutical reports as required.
  • Keep abreast of new pharmaceutical products and developments.
  • Ensure proper labeling and packaging of dispensed medications.
  • Participate in quality assurance programs within the pharmacy.
  • Handle expired or recalled medications according to established protocols.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology.
  • At least one (1) year of working experience in a hospital or pharmacy set up.
  • Must be registered with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board.
  • Must possess a valid license from the Pharmacy and Poisons Board.
  • Proficient in computer applications.
  • Good communication skills.
