Job Summary
As a Nurse at Penda Health, you will be instrumental in ensuring the highest quality of service and exceptional patient experiences. Your role will encompass standardized patient triaging, effective management of emergencies, the provision of excellent Maternal and Child Health (MCH) and Family Planning (FP) services, as well as other essential outpatient nursing procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive and high-quality clinical services, including thorough initial assessments of patients, accurate triaging based on their condition, delivering quality MCH/FP services and various nursing procedures, and administering intravenous (IV) or intramuscular (IM) medications following nursing best practices.
- Ensure that the Medical Centre is consistently ready and well-stocked with all necessary supplies and functioning equipment, including properly packed, clean, and sterile items, to effectively attend to both general and emergency medical cases.
- Champion Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) by diligently implementing IPC best practices and strictly adhering to Penda Health’s established IPC protocols to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Accurately and comprehensively record all patient data in Penda’s electronic medical record (EMR) system in real-time, ensuring data integrity and accessibility.
- Complete all necessary Ministry of Health (MoH) reporting requirements accurately and ensure the timely and correct submission of these reports as per regulations.
- Provide high-quality patient education on relevant health topics and ensure an excellent patient experience for all clients through clear communication and empathetic care.
- Embrace, actively learn, and continuously develop within an evidence-based medical system that aligns with Penda’s developed clinical protocols and guidelines.
- Participate actively in continuous professional development (CPD) activities to stay updated with the latest advancements in medical practices and relevant healthcare technology.
- Collaborate effectively with the Nurse Officer in-charge and/or the Branch Manager to proactively identify areas for process improvement and actively participate in the implementation of best practices (continuous improvement initiatives) to enhance overall clinical and nursing operations.
- You may be assigned additional tasks within the medical center as deemed necessary by the Branch Manager or the Nursing Officer in-charge to support the smooth functioning of the facility.
- Be an exemplary teammate by actively contributing to a positive and supportive work environment and going above and beyond to ensure colleagues feel valued and enjoy their work. Work collaboratively with all colleagues and exceed expectations in your contributions.
- Adhere strictly to all ethical and legal standards governing healthcare delivery to ensure patient safety and professional integrity.
Key Requirements and Attributes
- Diploma in Nursing - KRCHN (Kenya Registered Community Health Nurse) with a valid practicing license from the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK).
- Possession of a valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory, while Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is considered an added advantage.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience working in a busy Healthcare Facility.
- Demonstrated experience in Maternal and Child Health (MCH) and Family Planning (FP) service delivery.
- Possess good communication skills (both written and verbal) and demonstrate outstanding patient interaction skills with empathy and professionalism.
- Strong demonstrated ability to effectively use electronic health records and other digital health tools for patient management and documentation.
