Job Summary

As a Laboratory Technologist at Penda Health, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of patient samples, contributing directly to the diagnostic capabilities and overall quality of care provided at our medical centres. Your commitment to precision, quality control, and maintaining a collaborative work environment will be highly valued.

Responsibilities:

  • Collect, prepare, and process a diverse range of patient samples for various laboratory tests, strictly adhering to established protocols and procedures to ensure accurate results.
  • Operate and meticulously maintain all laboratory equipment, ensuring they are in optimal working condition through regular checks and timely maintenance, contributing to precise and efficient testing processes.
  • Actively participate in comprehensive quality control procedures to consistently uphold the accuracy, reliability, and timeliness of all laboratory testing performed.
  • Monitor laboratory stock levels diligently, generate accurate monthly orders for necessary supplies, and implement proper and organized storage conditions for all laboratory materials.
  • Maintain a high degree of accuracy in the recording and interpretation of all test data within the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system, ensuring data integrity and accessibility for clinical staff.
  • Prepare comprehensive and clear reports summarizing test results and key findings for healthcare providers, facilitating informed clinical decision-making.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and friendly work environment by actively working effectively and respectfully with all laboratory colleagues and other healthcare team members.

Key Requirements and Attributes

  • Diploma, Higher Diploma, or Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Medical Laboratory Science from a recognized institution.
  • Must possess current registration with the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB).
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience working in a busy Laboratory setup.
  • Must possess a valid Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificate.
  • Must be fully proficient in a wide range of laboratory services, including hematology.
  • Demonstrated outstanding patient interaction skills and the ability to collaborate effectively and respectfully with teammates.
