Job Summary
The Pediatric Clinical Officer will be responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care specifically tailored to the unique needs of neonates, infants, children, and adolescents. This crucial role involves conducting thorough clinical assessments, accurately diagnosing and effectively managing a wide range of pediatric conditions, and administering appropriate treatments in strict adherence to Penda's high standards of patient experience. The Pediatric Clinical Officer will also play a vital role in educating families on preventive care measures, collaborating seamlessly with other healthcare professionals, and providing essential emergency care when required. Ensuring accurate and comprehensive patient documentation and staying consistently updated with current best practices in pediatrics are also key aspects of this position. The role demands a strong commitment to Penda Health's core values and active participation within a collaborative and team-oriented environment.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver excellent patient care by promptly and effectively addressing the concerns of pediatric patients and their families, and by performing thorough and age-appropriate assessments, including detailed history taking and comprehensive physical examinations.
- Accurately diagnose, effectively manage, and develop individualized care plans for a wide spectrum of pediatric illnesses, injuries, and chronic conditions, including the provision of essential emergency care and stabilization when necessary.
- Provide comprehensive education and empathetic counseling to parents and guardians on critical aspects of child health, growth and development milestones, optimal nutrition, and vital preventive care strategies, as well as detailed guidance on the management of chronic conditions and the importance of consistent follow-up care.
- Collaborate seamlessly and effectively with all members of the healthcare team to ensure the delivery of comprehensive and coordinated patient care, and make timely and appropriate referrals to specialists or for inpatient care when the needs of the child exceed the scope of primary care.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to continuous learning by staying updated on the latest advancements in pediatric practices and evolving protocols to consistently ensure the provision of the highest quality of care to our young patients.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 1 year of post-training experience specifically in Pediatrics.
- Must possess a Higher National Diploma in Pediatrics.
- Alternatively, candidates with a Basic Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery will also be considered.
