Job Summary
The Medical Laboratory Technologist III will be responsible for performing a range of laboratory procedures, including specimen processing, analysis, result recording, and ensuring the efficient operation of laboratory services under the guidance of a senior officer within Migori County.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Decontaminating working benches to maintain a clean and safe laboratory environment.
- Receiving and meticulously scrutinizing laboratory requisition forms and specimens to ensure proper identification and completeness.
- Preparing clients for the collection of specimens, providing clear instructions and ensuring their comfort.
- Disaggregating specimens for processing and analyses, following established laboratory protocols.
- Preparing reagents accurately for various laboratory tests.
- Examining specimens using appropriate laboratory techniques and equipment.
- Writing and accurately recording test results in the designated formats.
- Dispatching the test results promptly for use in clinical management.
- Preparing stains, performing blood grouping, and issuing blood and blood products in peripheral health facilities according to established guidelines.
- Storing blood products according to their specific requirements to maintain their quality and safety.
- Working under the guidance and supervision of a more senior officer.
Requirements for Appointment:
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must:
- Be a Kenyan Citizen.
- Have a minimum of C Plain in KCSE.
- Possess a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Science or any other equivalent qualification recognized by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologist Board.
- Hold a Valid Practicing Certificate issued by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologist Board.
- Possess a Registration Certificate issued by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologist Board.
- A Certificate in Computer Application Skills from a recognized institution is an added advantage.
