Job Summary

City Health Hospital in Nairobi is seeking enthusiastic and detail-oriented Pharmaceutical Technologists to contribute to a range of essential pharmacy operations, including accurate medication dispensing, efficient inventory management, and providing excellent support to patients. The successful candidate will play a vital role in upholding the safety and accuracy of medication dispensing while ensuring the delivery of superior service to both patients and healthcare providers within a dynamic pharmacy setting in Nairobi.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare and dispense prescription medications with precision and efficiency, strictly adhering to established pharmacy protocols and guidelines.
  • Receive and carefully review prescription orders, ensuring the completeness and accuracy of all critical patient and medication information.
  • Accurately count, measure, and package medications according to the specific requirements of prescription orders and standard pharmacy procedures.
  • Label and organize prescription medications clearly and ensure their proper storage and handling in compliance with pharmaceutical standards.
  • Maintain a well-organized inventory of medications and supplies as needed, diligently following established pharmacy inventory management procedures to prevent stockouts and ensure availability.
  • Compound non-sterile medications, prepare sterile products under appropriate supervision if qualified, and assemble necessary medication kits as required for patient care.
  • Enter all prescription and patient information accurately and with strict confidentiality into the pharmacy computer systems, safeguarding data integrity and patient privacy.
  • Provide comprehensive assistance and support to patients, effectively addressing their inquiries about medications, dosage instructions, potential side effects, and proper storage.
  • Efficiently process insurance claims, manage billing procedures, and handle payment transactions for dispensed prescription medications, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Perform essential administrative tasks within the pharmacy, including professionally answering phone calls, scheduling patient appointments for pharmacy consultations, and maintaining organized patient records.
  • Strictly adhere to all relevant pharmacy laws, established hospital policies, and standard operating procedures, including all privacy and security protocols designed to protect patient information.
  • Actively participate in ongoing training and continuing education programs to continuously enhance knowledge and skills in current pharmacy practice and emerging advancements in the field.
  • Maintain a clean, well-organized, and safe work environment within the pharmacy to ensure the well-being of both staff and patients.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Possess a minimum of 3 years of demonstrable work experience in a fast-paced pharmacy environment, indicating the ability to manage a high volume of prescriptions and patient interactions effectively in Nairobi.
  • Hold a Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology from a reputable and recognized educational institution.
  • Exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the proven ability to interact professionally and empathetically with patients and fellow healthcare professionals in Nairobi.
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in all aspects of medication dispensing, compounding, and record-keeping within a Nairobi setting.
  • Possess a solid knowledge of relevant pharmacy laws, regulations, and professional standards governing pharmaceutical practice in Kenya, applicable to the Nairobi region.
  • Display flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as dictated by the operational needs of the pharmacy in Nairobi.
  • Possess a great work attitude and be aggressive with passion and drive for success in delivering exceptional pharmaceutical care to the Nairobi community.
