Job Summary
The Medical Officer will provide medical services to students and staff, ensure effective diagnosis and treatment, promote preventive healthcare, and advise the university on health-related matters. The role also includes minor surgical procedures, patient referrals, and medical data analysis to improve healthcare services at the institution.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Diagnose, treat, and manage diseases and conditions for patients.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatments as necessary.
- Maintain accurate patient records for proper medical history tracking.
- Conduct minor surgical procedures as required.
- Promote health education and awareness programs.
- Analyze disease trends and make recommendations for healthcare improvements.
- Implement health programs, policies, and quality assurance measures.
- Refer patients for hospitalization or specialist care when necessary.
- Handle patient complaints and problem resolution.
- Provide preventive healthcare guidance to promote wellness.
- Plan and implement curative and preventive health projects.
- Participate in budgeting and procurement for medical supplies.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the university management.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from a recognized institution.
- Registered with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
- Minimum 5 years of post-internship experience.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) Certified.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong clinical expertise in diagnosis and treatment.
- Ability to work in a team and achieve results.
- Experience working in a higher learning institution (preferred).
- Knowledge of Hospital Management Information Systems (HMIS) (added advantage).
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Outstanding communication skills (both verbal and written).
