Job Summary

The Clinic Nurse deployed at the Machakos medical center will deliver premium general nursing care, triage services, and routine clinical procedures in an outpatient setting. Key expectations include execution of detailed patient assessments, management of modern emergency cardiac support protocols, managing digitized electronic health records, and providing comprehensive wellness coaching to patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patient Triage & Assessment: Welcome patients, measure and record baseline vital signs, conduct primary assessments, and prioritize care paths dynamically.

  • Clinical Procedures: Administer prescribed medications, set up intravenous lines, dress wounds, and safely perform minor outpatient nursing interventions.

  • Emergency Preparedness: Maintain strict standby readiness to recognize, handle, and stabilize acute primary care and cardiac medical emergencies.

  • HMIS & Documentation: Input all clinical histories, medical observations, treatment charts, and billing information accurately using the hospital's central digital Health Management Information System.

  • Infection Control: Maintain rigorous sterilization protocols, keep clinical areas clean, and manage medical waste according to national guidelines.

  • Patient Education: Deliver structured guidance regarding drug prescriptions, dietary lifestyle adjustments, and chronic disease self-management.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) or a Diploma in Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing (KRCHN) from an NCK-accredited training institution.

  • Must be fully registered and hold a valid, active practicing license from the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) for the current year.

  • Valid professional certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).

  • Minimum of one (1) year of post-internship clinical working experience in a busy outpatient clinic or acute care hospital setup.

  • Practical proficiency and tech-savviness in working with computerized Health Management Information Systems (HMIS).

  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with a compassionate approach to patient care.
