Job Summary
The University Nurse will be responsible for the day-to-day clinical operations of the campus health center. This includes providing primary healthcare, treating minor illnesses and injuries, managing emergency responses on campus, and dispensing stock medications. The incumbent will also offer health counseling to students, maintain accurate and confidential electronic medical records, and champion campus-wide health and wellness initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Primary Health Care: Provide prompt diagnostic, treatment, and triaging services for students, staff, and visitors at the university clinic.
Emergency Triage: Manage on-campus medical emergencies and safely coordinate timely external referrals to hospital facilities for advanced care.
Medication Management: Safely administer and dispense prescribed inventory medications, ensuring accurate stock tracking and accountability.
Health Education: Counsel students on reproductive health, stress management, lifestyle modifications, nutrition, and general wellness.
Records Management: Meticulously document patient consultations, clinical histories, and treatments while ensuring absolute patient data confidentiality.
Campus Wellness: Plan and participate in university-wide health check-ups, immunization drives, and first-aid safety briefings.
Clinic Administration: Maintain high standards of hygiene and infection control within the clinic room and manage medical supply inventories.
Qualifications & Requirements
Diploma (KRCHN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) from a recognized nursing training institution.
Must be fully Registered with the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK).
Possession of a valid, active practicing license for the current year.
Minimum of three (3) years of continuous clinical experience in a busy outpatient or institutional setting.
Deep commitment to premium patient care, medical ethics, and high-quality customer service.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and basic counseling skills.
Added Advantages
Active certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is considered a strong added advantage.
Prior experience managing a school, college, or corporate health facility.
