Job Summary

The Health Care Assistant Tutor will be responsible for preparing, delivering, and evaluating instructional materials for the Health Care Assistant / Nursing Aide certificate programs. The position involves delivering classroom lectures, facilitating hands-on sessions in the skills laboratory, managing student assessments, and supervising trainees during practical or clinical attachments within partner hospital facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Curriculum Delivery: Conduct comprehensive, engaging lectures and practical demonstrations in line with the healthcare assistant training syllabus.

  • Skills Lab Facilitation: Guide students in mastering basic care protocols, including taking vital signs, patient mobility, infection control, and first aid.

  • Clinical Supervision: Coordinate, schedule, and supervise students during their field attachments and clinical rotations at nursing homes and hospitals.

  • Student Assessment: Design, administer, and grade internal examinations, continuous assessment tests (CATs), and practical skills check-offs.

  • Mentorship & Support: Offer academic guidance, career counseling, and remedial support to guarantee high student retention and success rates.

  • Research & Development: Continuously research modern medical advances and healthcare techniques to update course contents and learning frameworks.

  • Administrative Duties: Maintain precise student attendance registers, coursework logs, and academic records as required by the college administration.


Skills & Qualifications

  • Certificate, Diploma, Higher Diploma, or Degree in Nursing, Community Health, Health Care Assistance, Clinical Medicine, Public Health, or any related healthcare field.

  • Minimum of one to two (1–2) years of cumulative experience across teaching, corporate training, clinical mentoring, or active healthcare practice.

  • Prior experience working in hospitals, outpatient clinics, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or medical training institutions.

  • Good baseline understanding of technical healthcare assistant, homecare provider, or nursing aide curricula in Kenya.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills alongside exceptional research and critical thinking abilities.

  • Deep sense of professionalism, patience, adaptability, and an unyielding commitment to student transformation.

  • Excellent time management skills, strong attention to clinical detail, and the ability to hit strict deadlines under pressure.

  • Flexibility to work smoothly in accordance with the institution's academic schedules and calendars.
