Job Summary
The Research Assistant plays a vital role in the execution of clinical and community-based studies by identifying and recruiting eligible participants while maintaining strict confidentiality. This role involves administering informed consent, conducting quantitative interviews, and ensuring that all data collection activities comply with study protocols and regulatory requirements. The assistant works closely with study coordinators to ensure the smooth, day-to-day operations of research activities and high-quality data integrity.
Duties & Responsibilities
Participate in specialized training sessions for study procedures and the rigorous testing of data collection tools.
Identify, recruit, and screen eligible clients for study participation while flawlessly maintaining participant confidentiality.
Administer and meticulously document the informed consent process, ensuring all documents are stored securely.
Develop an in-depth understanding of study goals to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and study protocols.
Collaborate with study coordinators to prepare and manage daily and weekly interview schedules.
Conduct detailed quantitative interviews with study participants to gather high-quality research data.
Provide consistent and accurate progress updates to the study coordinators regarding recruitment and data collection.
Oversee the efficient day-to-day operations of field research and data collection activities.
Act as a primary point of contact to respond to study-related questions from participants and stakeholders.
Utilize digital tools like ODK or KOBO collect to record and manage survey responses accurately.
Ensure that all sensitive conversations are followed through to completion with tact and professionalism.
Maintain high standards of integrity in all research-related tasks and participant interactions.
Organize and prioritize research tasks effectively to meet study timelines and deliverables.
Support the testing and review of new data collection instruments to improve study accuracy.
Perform any other duties as assigned by the Study Coordinator to facilitate the success of the research project.
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Certificate/Diploma in Public Health, Community Health, Epidemiology, Psychology, Communications, or a related discipline.
At least 2 years of post-training working experience in a professional setting.
Minimum 1 year of experience in a call centre, ideally within the healthcare sector.
Demonstrated experience in conducting surveys and in-depth interviews.
Mandatory familiarity with digital data collection tools such as ODK or KOBO collect.
Advanced computer skills and proficiency in MS Office Suite.
High attention to detail and the ability to manage sensitive conversations with empathy.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
