Job Summary

The Registered ICU Nurse is a key member of the critical care team, responsible for managing patients with life-threatening conditions. The role requires a high degree of proficiency in advanced life-support systems and the ability to thrive under the intense pressure of a fast-paced ICU environment. The successful candidate will deliver exceptional care through continuous monitoring and the implementation of strict critical care protocols.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide high-level, comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit.

  • Perform continuous assessment and monitoring of patient vital signs and neurological status.

  • Expertly manage mechanical ventilation and airway support for patients with respiratory failure.

  • Execute complex haemodynamic monitoring and interpret data to adjust treatment interventions.

  • Administer potent critical care medications, including vasopressors and sedatives, with high precision.

  • Respond immediately to clinical changes and lead life-saving interventions using ACLS and BLS protocols.

  • Collaborate with intensivists and other specialists to develop and execute individualized care plans.

  • Ensure strict adherence to hospital infection prevention and patient safety standards.

  • Maintain accurate, real-time documentation of all clinical observations and interventions.

  • Operate and troubleshoot advanced medical technology, including infusion pumps and cardiac monitors.

  • Provide emotional support and clear communication to patients' families during critical periods.

  • Participate in morning rounds and multidisciplinary team briefings to optimize patient outcomes.

  • Mentor and support junior staff and nursing students rotating through the critical care unit.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Higher Diploma in Nursing (BA/BSc/HND).

  • Must possess a Valid Nursing Licence (RN) that is current and unrestricted.

  • Minimum of 5 years of ICU experience specifically within a high-volume, acute care hospital.

  • Proven proficiency in ventilator management, haemodynamic monitoring, and critical care protocols.

  • Must hold current ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) and BLS (Basic Life Support) certifications.

  • Strong clinical judgment and the ability to make rapid, accurate decisions under pressure.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

  • Must be flexible and available to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends.
