Job Summary
The Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care and health management within MOHI's educational and community health framework. This role specifically seeks an individual with experience in a school setting, capable of managing the unique health needs of children. The successful candidate will deliver care with excellence while upholding the organization's core spiritual and professional values.
Key Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive nursing care to students and families in disadvantaged communities.
Manage a school-based health clinic, ensuring students are fit for learning and addressed for minor ailments.
Perform regular health screenings and assessments for orphaned and vulnerable children.
Administer first aid and emergency medical care within the school or community center.
Provide basic counseling and psychological support to children facing trauma or health-related stress.
Maintain accurate and timely patient records, ensuring strict confidentiality.
Collaborate with teachers and parents to monitor the health and nutritional status of students.
Conduct health education sessions for children and staff on hygiene, nutrition, and disease prevention.
Ensure all nursing practices comply with the Nursing Council of Kenya standards.
Adapt medical interventions to suit the diverse cultural and educational backgrounds of the Mathare Valley community.
Maintain a high level of professionalism, integrity, and commitment to the organization’s Christian mission.
Qualifications & Requirements
Diploma in Nursing from a recognized training institution.
Must be a Kenya Community Registered Health Nurse (KCRHN).
Valid registration with the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK).
At least three (3) years of relevant work experience, with a preference for those who have worked in a school setting.
A certificate in Counseling or Psychology is highly desirable.
High level of motivation, integrity, and commitment to Christian values.
Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills.
Ability to adapt to cultural and educational diversity in the workplace.
High degree of initiative, flexibility, and team-working skills.
