Job Summary

The Consultant Obs/Gynae is responsible for providing excellent obstetric and surgical care while glorifying God through compassionate medical service. Reporting to the Lead Consultant, this role involves managing complex maternal health cases, providing clinical leadership to medical staff, and coordinating specialized referral services. The consultant will also drive continuous training and quality improvement initiatives to ensure the hospital maintains its high standards of patient safety.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinate OB/GYN referral services both within the hospital and with external facilities based on patient needs.

  • Ensure thorough assessment and accurate documentation of patient histories and physical findings for every case.

  • Provide specialized medical direction and investigations, including requesting specialist opinions when necessary.

  • Lead the delivery of specialized OB/GYN services to ensure they meet international quality, quantity, and compliance standards.

  • Provide clinical leadership and direction to medical personnel regarding complex patient care strategies.

  • Participate actively in quality improvement measures, including clinical audits and research within the department.

  • Coordinate and facilitate the continuous professional development and training of OB/GYN staff for high productivity.

  • Collaborate with other medical specialists to solve multi-organ medical issues or perform extensive surgeries.

  • Oversee maternal and neonatal health outcomes in assigned clinical areas to ensure high patient safety.

  • Manage surgical interventions for both emergency and elective gynaecological conditions.

  • Provide expert obstetric care for high-risk pregnancies and complex deliveries.

  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies and the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board regulations.

  • Participate in community outreach and education through the hospital's satellite clinic network.

  • Mentor junior residents and interns to foster a culture of excellence in surgical and obstetric practice.

  • Contribute to the spiritual mission of the hospital by providing holistic care to patients and families.


Qualifications & Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Obstetrics and Gynecology from a recognized university.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) or equivalent.

  • Currently Registered with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board (KMPDC).

  • Must possess a valid specialist practicing license.

  • Demonstrated experience in a high-volume surgical or clinical research environment.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to provide direction to a multidisciplinary medical team.

  • Commitment to the hospital's Christian vision, mission, and core values.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills for complex medical and surgical cases.
