Job Summary
The Clinical Officer is responsible for providing comprehensive clinical assessments, accurate diagnoses, and effective treatments for patients in both outpatient and inpatient settings. This role ensures that all medical care is safe, timely, and evidence-based, strictly adhering to established hospital protocols and patient safety standards. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain high levels of clinical excellence while managing cases in a high-volume environment.
Duties & Responsibilities
Conduct thorough clinical assessments of patients to determine health status and immediate needs.
Diagnose and manage a wide variety of medical conditions in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Provide immediate medical intervention and stabilization for patients in the high-volume casualty and emergency units.
Ensure all medical treatments are evidence-based and aligned with national and hospital protocols.
Prescribe appropriate medications and medical treatments in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
Monitor patient progress continuously and adjust treatment plans as necessary to improve outcomes.
Maintain accurate and detailed medical records for every patient consultation and procedure.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of doctors, nurses, and specialists to provide holistic care.
Communicate effectively with patients and their families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and preventive care.
Uphold strict patient safety standards and infection control measures throughout the hospital.
Respond promptly to medical emergencies and participate in life-saving interventions using ACLS and BLS protocols.
Participate in morning rounds and departmental meetings to discuss complex patient cases.
Manage patient flow efficiently to ensure minimal waiting times in the emergency department.
Assist in minor surgical procedures and other clinical tasks as assigned by the medical director.
Ensure compliance with the ethical guidelines set by the Clinical Officers Council of Kenya.
Qualifications & Requirements
Degree in Clinical Medicine and Surgery from a recognized medical training institution.
Must be Registered with the Clinical Officers Council of Kenya.
Possess a Valid Practicing License for the current year.
Minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience, specifically in a high-volume casualty or emergency unit.
Must have a Valid ACLS and BLS Training Certificate.
Strong clinical judgment and the ability to make rapid decisions under pressure.
Exceptional communication and teamwork skills for effective collaboration.
Must be flexible and willing to work on a shift basis, including nights and weekends.
