Job Summary
The Clinical Officer at Bahati Hospital is responsible for providing high-quality medical care through accurate diagnosis, effective treatment planning, and compassionate patient management. Working in a fast-paced environment, the officer will handle a wide range of clinical cases while ensuring adherence to national health protocols and hospital standards. This role requires a dedicated professional who can combine strong diagnostic skills with excellent communication to improve patient health outcomes.
Duties & Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive medical examinations and physical assessments of patients to determine health status.
Utilize strong clinical and diagnostic skills to identify illnesses and develop appropriate treatment plans.
Prescribe and administer medications and treatments in accordance with the Ministry of Health guidelines.
Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests such as X-rays, ECGs, and laboratory work to confirm diagnoses.
Perform minor surgical procedures and emergency medical interventions as required in a busy hospital setting.
Provide continuous monitoring of patient progress and adjust treatment regimens based on clinical recovery.
Offer professional health education and counseling to patients and their families regarding disease prevention and lifestyle.
Maintain accurate, detailed, and up-to-date medical records for all patient consultations.
Collaborate with the nursing and specialist teams to ensure a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
Facilitate timely and appropriate referrals for patients requiring specialized medical or surgical attention.
Participate in morning rounds and clinical audits to maintain high standards of service delivery.
Ensure strict adherence to infection prevention and control (IPC) measures within the clinical areas.
Manage patient flow efficiently to ensure minimal waiting times while maintaining quality of care.
Respond promptly to on-call duties and medical emergencies within the hospital premises.
Keep abreast of current medical trends and best practices through continuous medical education.
Qualifications & Requirements
Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Clinical Medicine & Surgery from a recognized training institution.
A minimum of 3 years of relevant working experience in a busy hospital environment.
Must possess a valid medical practicing license from the Clinical Officers Council (COC) of Kenya.
Proven expertise in diagnostic skills and the management of both acute and chronic conditions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective patient interaction.
Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining a high level of professionalism.
Demonstrated commitment to upholding medical ethics and patient confidentiality.
Proficiency in basic computer applications and hospital management software.
