Job Summary
The Head of Hospital Services is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing the efficient, safe, and effective management of all hospital support services. This includes Biomedical Engineering, Facilities Management, Supply Chain, and Support Services (Security, Catering, Housekeeping). The role requires a strategic manager with at least 10 years of experience to optimize processes, manage significant budgets, and ensure operational excellence and regulatory compliance across multiple critical departments.
Duties & Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy
Lead and manage hospital services across support services, biomedical engineering, facilities management, and supply chain departments.
Develop and implement strategic plans in alignment with hospital goals to enhance department effectiveness and efficiency.
Provide leadership and direction to department heads, ensuring staff development, motivation, and engagement.
Biomedical Engineering
Oversee the maintenance, repair, and safe operation of medical equipment in accordance with regulatory standards.
Ensure biomedical engineering staff are adequately trained and equipment is regularly assessed for performance and safety.
Develop and manage the equipment lifecycle management process, including budgeting and procurement of new equipment.
Facilities Management
Ensure the hospital’s physical infrastructure is maintained to the highest standards, providing a safe, clean, and functional environment.
Oversee building operations, including utilities, housekeeping, security, and general maintenance.
Implement strategies to improve the hospital’s energy efficiency, environmental sustainability, and health and safety standards.
Supply Chain
Oversee all aspects of the supply chain and procurement function, including sourcing, purchasing, inventory management, and logistics.
Ensure timely, cost-effective, and quality-driven supply chain solutions.
Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers, negotiate contracts, and ensure compliance with service agreements.
Financial Oversight
Manage departmental budgets and resources effectively, ensuring cost containment and resource optimization.
Analyze costs and propose initiatives for reducing expenses while improving service delivery.
Plan for and manage current space, functional requirements, and renovation/construction projects.
Qualifications & Requirements
A Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
A minimum of 10 years of experience, of which 5 years must be at a senior management level, preferably in hospital services or healthcare management.
Experience in hospitals with national and international accreditations is a strong advantage.
Excellent project management skills and strong leadership abilities.
In-depth knowledge of healthcare services, regulatory requirements, and industry’s best practices.
Excellent financial acumen and proven experience managing operational budgets.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple departments and competing priorities simultaneously.
