Job Summary

IQVIA is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Neonatal Nurse for a short-term, adhoc contract to support a research project focused on newborn health. The role requires the nurse to travel to Lodwar to ethically and safely collect blood samples from a newborn patient, ensure proper sample handling, and transport it to Nairobi. This assignment also includes a follow-up visit one month later, with all travel and related expenses fully covered by the project.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Travel from Nairobi to Lodwar to visit the newborn patient at the designated location.

  • Safely and ethically collect blood samples from the newborn, strictly following clinical and research protocols.

  • Ensure proper labeling, storage, and handling of biological samples to maintain integrity.

  • Transport the sample to Nairobi using approved cold-chain or other necessary procedures.

  • Conduct a follow-up visit to the patient one month after the initial sample collection.

  • Maintain accurate records of procedures, patient interactions, and sample logistics.

  • Communicate effectively with the research team and local healthcare providers.

  • Adhere to all ethical, clinical, and safety standards throughout the assignment.

  • Be available for an overnight stay in Lodwar if required, based on travel and patient scheduling.


Qualifications & Requirements

  • Registered Nurse with specialization or essential experience in neonatal care.

  • A minimum of 5 or more years of experience in Neonatal Care is required.

  • Must possess a valid nursing license in Kenya.

  • Prior experience in clinical research or sample collection is a distinct advantage.

  • Ability to travel and work independently in remote settings (Lodwar).

  • Strong communication and detailed documentation skills.

  • Commitment to high ethical standards and patient confidentiality.

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is generally preferred for this level of experience.
