Job Summary
IQVIA is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Neonatal Nurse for a short-term, adhoc contract to support a research project focused on newborn health. The role requires the nurse to travel to Lodwar to ethically and safely collect blood samples from a newborn patient, ensure proper sample handling, and transport it to Nairobi. This assignment also includes a follow-up visit one month later, with all travel and related expenses fully covered by the project.
Duties & Responsibilities
Travel from Nairobi to Lodwar to visit the newborn patient at the designated location.
Safely and ethically collect blood samples from the newborn, strictly following clinical and research protocols.
Ensure proper labeling, storage, and handling of biological samples to maintain integrity.
Transport the sample to Nairobi using approved cold-chain or other necessary procedures.
Conduct a follow-up visit to the patient one month after the initial sample collection.
Maintain accurate records of procedures, patient interactions, and sample logistics.
Communicate effectively with the research team and local healthcare providers.
Adhere to all ethical, clinical, and safety standards throughout the assignment.
Be available for an overnight stay in Lodwar if required, based on travel and patient scheduling.
Qualifications & Requirements
Registered Nurse with specialization or essential experience in neonatal care.
A minimum of 5 or more years of experience in Neonatal Care is required.
Must possess a valid nursing license in Kenya.
Prior experience in clinical research or sample collection is a distinct advantage.
Ability to travel and work independently in remote settings (Lodwar).
Strong communication and detailed documentation skills.
Commitment to high ethical standards and patient confidentiality.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is generally preferred for this level of experience.
