Job Summary
The Perioperative Nurse will provide specialized nursing care to surgical patients at Diani Beach Hospital. This involves managing patient care across the pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative phases. The role requires a focus on surgical care and strict adherence to infection control protocols.
Duties & Responsibilities
Provide expert nursing care to patients before they undergo surgery.
Manage patient conditions and provide direct assistance to surgeons during operations.
Ensure a sterile environment within the operating room to prevent infection.
Provide post-operative care and monitor patients during their recovery period.
Educate patients and their families on post-surgical care and recovery.
Maintain accurate and detailed patient records for all surgical procedures.
Handle and prepare surgical equipment and instruments.
Adhere strictly to all hospital policies and infection prevention protocols.
Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other medical staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Respond to emergency situations within the surgical unit.
Qualifications & Requirements
A Higher Diploma in Perioperative Nursing from a recognized institution.
A valid practicing license from the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK).
At least 1 year of post-internship experience in a busy surgical theatre.
Demonstrated knowledge of pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative patient care.
Proven competence in infection prevention and control practices within surgical environments.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
The ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced setting.
