Job Summary
The Mid-Level Nurse Midwife Officer will be responsible for providing skilled care throughout the antenatal, labor, delivery, and postnatal periods. This role involves monitoring and managing pregnancies, identifying complications, and providing immediate newborn care. The ideal candidate will have a diploma in nursing and midwifery, a valid license from the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK), and a compassionate, patient-centered approach.
Duties & Responsibilities
Provide skilled care during the antenatal, labor, delivery, and postnatal periods.
Monitor and manage both normal and high-risk pregnancies and deliveries.
Identify and respond to maternal and neonatal complications, including timely referrals to higher-level facilities.
Conduct neonatal resuscitation and provide immediate newborn care.
Educate mothers and families on topics such as safe motherhood, breastfeeding, family planning, and newborn care.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical documentation and reports.
Ensure strict adherence to infection prevention and control measures.
Participate in perinatal audits, ward rounds, and quality improvement activities.
Qualifications & Requirements
A Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery from a recognized institution.
Must be registered and licensed by the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK).
A valid NCK practicing license.
At least 1 to 5 years of experience in a maternity unit (Level 3 or above) is an added advantage.
Additional certification in Emergency Obstetric and Neonatal Care (EmONC) or Helping Babies Breathe (HBB) is desirable.
Excellent communication, teamwork, and clinical decision-making skills.
A compassionate and respectful attitude in delivering patient-centered care.
The ability to work under pressure in a high-demand maternity setting.
A commitment to continuous professional development and high ethical standards.
