Job Summary
The Medical Officer at Premier Hospital will primarily attend to patients in the Outpatient department, offering consultations and performing necessary procedures. This role also involves stabilizing emergencies in the Accident & Emergency and Inpatient departments, and closely liaising with consultants for comprehensive patient management across all hospital departments.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Attend to any emergencies in the A&E and Out-patient departments.
- Attend to patients in the In-patient department in conjunction with the consultant.
- Attend direct admissions and perform admissions of patients when deemed necessary.
- Participate in mortality and morbidity audits.
- Perform diagnosis and management of patients as per established protocols.
- Participate in health talks and outreach programs.
- Participate in training, including weekly CMEs (Continuous Medical Education).
- Participate in creating clinical SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) in coordination with resident consultants.
- Maintain medical records through proper documentation of patient’s medical history and procedures performed.
- Counsel patients and relatives on diagnosis and bereavement.
- Provide excellent customer service and be empathetic to patients of all ages.
- Collaborate effectively with a team of people from various backgrounds and training.
- Be available to work on holidays, nights, and as the need arises within the department.
- Be flexible in performing assigned skills and duties.
- Demonstrate problem-solving and analytical skills in patient care.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBChB).
- Registered with The Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
- Valid practicing License from The Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
- Active BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certificates.
- Knowledgeable in basic anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
- Computer literate.
- Familiar with locally available drugs and their indications.
- Good communication and listening skills.
- Able to work with a team of people from various backgrounds and training.
- Excellent customer service skills and empathetic to patients of all ages.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Culturally sensitive.
- Able to keep up with Continuous Pharmaceutical Developments and Continuous Medical Education.
