Job Summary

The Great Lakes Medical Centre is seeking to recruit 5 General Nursing Officers to deliver high-quality nursing care. These roles require proficiency in medical-surgical nursing, strong computer skills, and a commitment to patient excellence, with an added advantage for those experienced in specialized areas like maternity, pediatrics, or critical care. Successful candidates will be excellent communicators and dedicated team players focused on providing exceptional healthcare services.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in various hospital departments.
  • Monitor and document patients' vital signs, symptoms, and overall health status.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by medical officers.
  • Assist medical officers during examinations, procedures, and ward rounds.
  • Educate patients and their families on health management, treatment plans, and preventive care.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and charts.
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and organized patient environment, adhering to infection control standards.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and assist in critical care situations as required.
  • Collaborate effectively with other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
  • Participate in continuous professional development and training initiatives.
  • Handle patient information with utmost confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Utilize computer applications for patient data management and reporting.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, protocols, and nursing standards set by the Nursing Council of Kenya.
  • Provide empathetic support and counseling to patients and their relatives.
  • Contribute to maintaining a positive and collaborative team environment.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Diploma in nursing (KRCHN) from a recognized institution.
  • Registration certificate by the Nursing Council of Kenya.
  • Valid Nursing Council of Kenya license.
  • Proficiency in computer application skills.
  • Knowledge on current practice on medical-surgical nursing.
  • Working experience in specialized areas such as maternity, pediatrics, and critical care is an added advantage.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to providing high-quality care and excellence.
