Job Summary

The Community Oral Health Officer (COHO) at Equity Afia in Voi will provide essential oral healthcare services to the community. This role involves diagnosing and treating common oral health conditions, promoting oral hygiene, and contributing to the overall well-being of patients in line with Equity Afia's commitment to accessible and high-quality care.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive oral health services, including diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of oral diseases.
  • Conduct oral health screenings and assessments for patients of all ages.
  • Perform dental procedures such as fillings, extractions, and scaling.
  • Educate patients and the community on proper oral hygiene practices and preventive dental care.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records and dental charts.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure integrated patient care.
  • Manage and maintain dental equipment and instruments, ensuring their proper functionality and sterilization.
  • Participate in community outreach programs to promote oral health awareness.
  • Adhere to all established clinical protocols, patient safety standards, and infection control guidelines.
  • Respond to dental emergencies as required.
  • Ensure proper inventory management of dental supplies and materials.
  • Provide patient counseling on post-procedure care and follow-up appointments.
  • Participate in continuous professional development activities to stay updated with best practices in oral health.
  • Prepare and submit regular reports on oral health activities and patient statistics.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Diploma in Community Oral Health.
  • Registration with a valid license from the Oral Health Association of Kenya (OHAK) / Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
  • Certificate in Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a relevant clinical setting.
  • Proficient in computer applications.
  • Good communication skills.
