Job Summary
The female School Nurse will be responsible for providing healthcare services to students, managing minor illnesses and injuries, maintaining student health records, promoting health education, and ensuring a healthy and safe school environment. This role requires a female candidate who is ready to reside in the school compound and work with minimal supervision in Nairobi.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide first aid and basic medical care to students who become ill or injured at school.
- Assess students' health needs and develop appropriate care plans.
- Administer prescribed medications to students according to school policy and medical orders.
- Maintain accurate and confidential student health records, including immunization records and medical histories.
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding students' health concerns.
- Provide health education and counseling to students and staff on various health-related topics.
- Promote a healthy and safe school environment by implementing health and safety protocols.
- Manage minor emergencies and make appropriate referrals for more serious medical conditions.
- Maintain a well-equipped and organized school sickbay.
- Monitor and manage communicable diseases within the school population.
- Collaborate with school administration and staff on health-related issues and policies.
- Ensure compliance with relevant health regulations and guidelines.
- Be ready to reside in the school compound to provide timely assistance.
- Work under minimum supervision, demonstrating responsibility and initiative.
- Uphold the values and ethos of a Catholic school.
Qualifications
- Be in possession of a diploma certificate in nursing from a recognized medical training college.
- Be registered by the Nursing Council of Kenya.
- Be in possession of a valid practicing license.
- Must have a good conduct certificate.
- Should be at least 30 years and above.
- Should be ready to reside in the school compound.
- Ability to work under minimum supervision.
- Preferably a Catholic.
