Job Summary
The University of Nairobi is seeking dedicated Research Midwives to contribute to an ongoing study. These roles are critical for the successful execution of research protocols, involving participant screening and enrollment, data collection, meticulous record-keeping, and ensuring compliance with research standards. The ideal candidates will be experienced midwives with a strong clinical background in maternity, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to accurate research practices.
Job Description / Key Responsibilities
- Screen and enroll eligible participants in the study, ensuring proper administration of consent procedures.
- Administer screening and enrollment questionnaires to participants accurately and comprehensively.
- Maintain a precise register of all randomized participants.
- Prepare and maintain a robust filing system for both study participants and source verification documents for all enrolled participants.
- Prepare diligently for quarterly external audits and monitoring visits, ensuring all documentation is ready.
- Ensure and maintain records of monthly calibration of all study equipment.
- Ensure data are collected accurately and proactively resolve any discrepancies with the data team.
- Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports for the study coordinator.
Job Specifications / Qualifications & Requirements
- Kenya Registered Nurse Midwife or Kenya Registered Community Health Nurse.
- Valid registration with the relevant body (Nursing Council of Kenya).
- Two (2) years of continuous clinical experience post-qualification with a busy maternity unit.
- Training and experience in research and IT will be considered an added advantage.
