Job Summary
The Pharmacy Technologist will be responsible for accurately dispensing medications according to prescriptions, managing pharmacy stock, processing billing for medicines, providing clear information to clients about their medications, handling insurance claims, and working collaboratively within a team to achieve high-quality patient outcomes.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Dispense medications accurately according to doctor's prescriptions, ensuring correct dosage and labeling.
- Maintain an organized arrangement of the pharmacy to ensure efficient retrieval of medications and supplies.
- Manage the procurement of drugs and non-pharmaceuticals, ensuring adequate stock levels and cost-effectiveness.
- Handle the billing of medicines accurately, processing payments and maintaining financial records.
- Offer proper information and communication to clients regarding their medications, including dosage, administration, and potential side effects.
- Manage insurance claims related to pharmaceutical services, ensuring accurate documentation and timely processing.
- Work effectively in team dynamics to achieve high-quality patient outcomes and contribute to a positive work environment.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of dispensed medications and inventory.
- Ensure compliance with pharmacy regulations and hospital policies.
- Assist in the preparation of pharmaceutical products, as required.
- Monitor storage conditions of medications to ensure their integrity and efficacy.
- Participate in inventory audits to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.
- Provide support and guidance to pharmacy assistants, if applicable.
- Adhere to the ethical guidelines of a mission facility in all professional interactions.
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the supervisor to support the efficient operation of the pharmacy.
Qualifications & Requirements
- At least a Diploma or Degree in Pharmaceutical Technology from a recognized Institution/University. A post-basic course will be an added advantage.
- At least three years' experience in a Pharmacy Technologist position will be an added advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to articulate all the responsibilities as described in your area of specialty.
- Computer literate with proficiency in basic pharmacy software and applications.
- Self-motivated and result-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively in a mission facility by upholding their ethics and values.
- A customer care-oriented approach with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in dispensing and record-keeping.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
