Job Summary
As a Pharmaceutical Technologist at Penda Health, you will play a vital role in ensuring the efficient and accurate dispensing of medications while maintaining the highest standards of patient care and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Receive and accurately process prescriptions from healthcare professionals, ensuring strict adherence to Penda policies and dispensing medications to patients with precision and care.
- Maintain strict vigilance over drug storage conditions by diligently recording fridge and room temperatures at regular intervals. Proactively monitor pharmaceutical expiry dates and manage general pharmacy supplies effectively.
- Implement and adhere to strict protocols for the meticulous maintenance and thorough documentation of DDA (Dangerous Drugs Act) regulated medications, ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
- Conduct comprehensive monthly stock takes in strict alignment with established policy guidelines. Maintain accurate records and effectively manage all drug stocks received from the central store, those dispensed to clients, and the remaining inventory.
- Collaborate closely with clinical officers to ensure the safe, economical, and rational use of drugs and other pharmaceutical products, contributing to optimal patient outcomes.
- Strive to consistently exceed patient expectations by going above and beyond to understand and meet their needs while upholding the highest standards of patient dignity and overall experience.
Key Requirements and Attributes
- Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology from a recognized medical training institution.
- Must be registered with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board of Kenya.
- Must possess a valid Practicing license.
- Proficiency in basic computer application skills is essential for efficient record-keeping and dispensing processes.
- Minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience, preferably in a busy hospital or clinic setup.
- Must be a great team player with the ability to collaborate effectively with other healthcare team members to achieve the best possible outcomes for patients.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively under minimum supervision, showing initiative and responsibility.
- Strong commitment to the care and well-being of patients and a dedication to providing excellent customer service.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and Kiswahili to effectively interact with patients and colleagues.
