Job Summary

St. Theresa’s Mission Hospital Kiirua is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Emergency Medicine and Critical Care Clinical Officer. This vital role involves providing high-quality emergency care to patients in urgent medical situations, assessing, diagnosing, and initiating treatment for a diverse range of conditions. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes, maintain accurate records, and actively contribute to continuous quality improvement efforts within the hospital's emergency and critical care settings.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality emergency care to patients presenting with urgent medical situations, ensuring rapid assessment and intervention.

  • Assess, diagnose, and initiate treatment for a diverse range of medical and surgical conditions, including acute illnesses and traumatic injuries.

  • Collaborate effectively with other healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, and allied health staff, to ensure optimal patient outcomes through integrated care.

  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records for all emergency and critical care interventions, ensuring meticulous documentation.

  • Contribute actively to continuous quality improvement efforts within the emergency department and critical care unit, identifying areas for enhancement and implementing best practices.

  • Perform initial triage and stabilization of critically ill or injured patients.

  • Administer medications and perform essential emergency procedures as per established protocols and scope of practice.

  • Monitor patient vital signs and response to treatment, escalating care as needed.

  • Provide clear and compassionate communication to patients and their families.

  • Participate in departmental meetings and training sessions.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Must possess a Higher Diploma in Emergency Medicine.
  • Experience: A minimum of 2 years of clinical experience specifically in an emergency setting is required.
