Job Summary
The County Government of Lamu is seeking two dedicated Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) to provide essential pre-hospital emergency medical care and transportation. The successful candidates will be responsible for responding to medical emergencies, assessing patient conditions, administering basic medical treatment, and ensuring the safe transport of patients to healthcare facilities within the Lamu region, playing a critical role in saving lives and improving patient outcomes.
Duties & Responsibilities :
- Responding promptly to emergency calls and providing initial assessment and treatment to patients at the scene.
- Performing basic life support procedures, including CPR and airway management.
- Administering basic medical care according to established protocols.
- Assessing patient conditions and determining the appropriate course of action.
- Safely transporting patients to hospitals or other medical facilities.
- Communicating effectively with medical personnel at receiving facilities.
- Maintaining accurate records of patient care and treatment provided.
- Ensuring the cleanliness and operational readiness of emergency medical equipment and vehicles.
- Adhering to safety protocols and emergency medical service guidelines.
- Participating in ongoing training and professional development.
- Providing compassionate and empathetic care to patients and their families.
- Collaborating with other emergency responders, such as paramedics and firefighters, as needed.
REQUIREMENT FOR APPOINTMENT
For appointment to this grade, the ideal candidate Must:
- Be a Kenyan Citizen (possess a National Identity Card/ Passport).
- Have gone through a Basic Training in Paramedic or any other health-related field (will be an added advantage).
- Be a holder of a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or its approved equivalent.
- Have Strong analytical skills, with attention to detail and quick reaction to situations.
- Be Composed and efficient in high-stress environments.
- Have Excellent knowledge of operating medical equipment and machines used in emergency medical care.
- Bear a Compassionate, professional, and empathetic attitude towards the injured and their relatives.
- Own a Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.
- Have shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
