Job Summary

The Catholic Diocese of Kitale - West Pokot Region is seeking a qualified and responsible Radiographer to operate imaging equipment, ensure radiation safety, accurately record patient information and imaging reports, maintain equipment, collaborate with physicians, and educate patients on procedures. Based in the West Pokot region, the successful candidate will be crucial in providing essential diagnostic imaging services to the community served by Ortum Catholic Mission and the new Makutano Dispensary.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Operate imaging equipment proficiently and safely to conduct a range of diagnostic procedures, including X-rays, ultrasounds, and other modalities as required by the facilities.
  • Ensure radiation protection measures are strictly followed for patients, staff, and themselves, adhering to established safety protocols and regulations.
  • Accurately record detailed patient information related to imaging procedures and maintain organized and comprehensive imaging reports.
  • Regularly maintain and calibrate all radiological equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety standards are consistently met.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians to understand clinical requirements and determine the most appropriate imaging methods for accurate diagnoses.
  • Educate patients clearly and concisely about the imaging procedures they will undergo, addressing any concerns and emphasizing safety protocols.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Possess a Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Radiography or Medical Imaging Sciences from a recognized institution.
  • Hold a valid Radiation Protection Board license, as required by Kenyan regulations.
  • A minimum of 1-year experience working in a clinical radiology environment is preferred, demonstrating practical experience in operating imaging equipment and ensuring safety.
