Job Summary
Taita Taveta University (TTU) is seeking a qualified Nursing Officer III to provide comprehensive nursing care to the university community. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing general nursing services, health education, and first aid, ensuring the well-being of students and staff within the university environment in Voi, Taita Taveta County. This role requires a compassionate approach, strong clinical skills, and the ability to work independently while adhering to professional standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive general nursing care to students, faculty, and staff within the university health services.
- Conduct thorough assessment of patients' health needs and develop appropriate nursing care plans.
- Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately according to established medical protocols and prescriptions.
- Monitor patient vital signs and promptly document and report any significant changes or abnormalities.
- Provide first aid and emergency care as needed within the university premises.
- Offer health education and counseling to students and staff on various health-related topics, promoting healthy lifestyles and disease prevention.
- Maintain accurate and confidential nursing records of patient encounters, treatments administered, and observations made.
- Ensure adherence to infection control practices and maintain a clean and safe environment within the university health clinic.
- Participate in health promotion campaigns and wellness programs organized by the university.
- Collaborate effectively with other healthcare professionals and university staff to ensure the holistic well-being of the university community.
- Maintain computer literacy for record-keeping, data management, and communication.
- Adhere to the ethical and professional standards of nursing practice.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Must possess a Diploma in Nursing from a recognized institution.
- A minimum of two (2) years of relevant working experience in a nursing role.
- Must be computer literate with proficiency in basic computer applications.
- Must possess a Valid Certificate of Good Conduct.
- Must be registered with the relevant professional body (Nursing Council of Kenya).
