Job Summary

The Registered Clinical Officer will ensure the highest standards of HIV testing services, care, and treatment are maintained. This includes facilitating HIV testing, providing clinical assessments, running HIV-related services, and strengthening quality improvement initiatives. The role also involves data management, community engagement, and participation in facility reporting.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support and facilitate HIV testing at the OPD (including special clinics) and IPD.
  • Support and strengthen monthly data reviews of linkage at the clinic.
  • Enroll and enhance adherence counseling to HIV-positive clients/patients.
  • Conduct clinical assessments and treatment of HIV-positive patients.
  • Run HIV-related services (TB Clinics, PMTCT Clinics, STD Clinics).
  • Ensure accurate filling and updating of registers, patient data, and KEMR.
  • Strengthen and monitor laboratory patient monitoring systems (e.g., viral loads, gene expert).
  • Work closely with the community team for home visits and treatment preparations.
  • Establish and lead a multidisciplinary team to review treatment failures.
  • Strengthen continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in facility data review exercises to improve care and treatment targets.
  • Support monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual facility reporting.
  • Perform clerking of patients in the OPD and ward reviews.
  • Perform any other duties aligned with program deliverables.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications

  • Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery from a recognized Medical Training College.
  • Enrollment with the Clinical Officer Council with a valid practicing license.
  • Additional training in NASCOP’s Test and Start guidelines, National Advanced HIV Clinical Course (NAHCC), HIV and Chronic Diseases Management, ART, or any recent training in HIV.
  • Excellent computer, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Additional Attributes

  • At least 1 year of experience working in a donor-funded ART program.
  • Experience using KEMR clinical databases or any EMR system.
