Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and community-driven individual to lead our Anti-FGM initiatives in West Pokot County. The Community Mobilizer will work closely with local communities, government agencies, and civil society organizations to advocate for the elimination of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and Child Marriage while ensuring the protection of vulnerable women and children.
Duties & Responsibilities
Project Planning & Implementation
- Mobilize and sustain community participation in project activities.
- Facilitate the formation of Girl Child Rights Clubs, Citizen Voice Action (CVA) groups, and other advocacy platforms.
- Support men and boys as champions against FGM and child marriage.
- Train community leaders, law enforcers, and CSOs on child protection and gender-based violence (GBV) prevention.
- Conduct school-based child rights awareness sessions and facilitate community intergenerational dialogues.
- Organize media campaigns and community talk shows on FGM prevention.
- Support Anti-FGM sporting activities to engage youth in advocacy efforts.
Quality Assurance – Monitoring, Reporting & Documentation
- Train survivors and community change agents on data collection and reporting.
- Monitor and evaluate project interventions, ensuring effective tracking of cases.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including activity reports and assessments.
Strategic Engagement, Partnership & Networking
- Build relationships with government agencies, churches, NGOs, and CBOs.
- Support county-level policy development on child protection and gender-based violence.
- Facilitate advocacy events, including the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG).
- Advocate for the establishment of safe spaces and survivor support hubs.
- Work with law enforcement agencies to enhance legal protection against FGM and child marriage.
Resource Acquisition & Community Engagement
- Mobilize community resources to support project sustainability.
- Support fundraising efforts for expanded child protection interventions.
- Promote integrated sponsorship implementation and monitoring.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Diploma in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Community Development, or related fields (Degree is an added advantage).
- At least 2 years of experience in child protection, gender advocacy, or community development.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, Kiswahili, and local dialects.
- Valid motorcycle rider’s license (mandatory).
- Strong leadership, networking, and mobilization skills.
- Ability to work with diverse communities and government stakeholders.
