Job Purpose
The overall purpose of this job is to perform specialized technical duties associated with echocardiography (Echo) scans, providing physicians and cardiologists with precise diagnostic information regarding cardiovascular diseases, structural illnesses, and rhythm disorders.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnostic Scanning: Perform all types of Echocardiograms and set up 24-hour Holter monitors for both inpatients and outpatients.
Reporting: Draft detailed Echocardiogram reports for the cardiologist's review and countersignature; analyze and report on Holter monitor recordings.
Clinical Assistance: Actively assist Cardiologists during specialized Trans-Esophageal Echo (TEE) procedures.
Turnaround Management: Ensure the timely archiving and dispatch of Echo and Holter monitor reports to patients or referring physicians.
Data Management: Maintain accurate records of all tests by ensuring correct data entry on computer systems, diagnostic report forms, and batch registers.
Image Quality: Develop echocardiographic films, conduct initial reviews of images, and provide provisional prognoses to the medical team.
Quality Control: Perform and document routine quality control procedures to ensure cardiac imaging equipment operates at an optimal level.
Equipment Maintenance: Collaborate with Biomedical Engineers and report any equipment malfunctions to the Head of Department for prompt repair.
Qualifications & Requirements
Diploma as a Cardiology Technologist from a recognized medical training institution.
Valid Certification and registration by the appropriate Radiology/Medical Council of Kenya.
Minimum of six (6) months of hands-on Echocardiography experience, preferably within a busy hospital environment.
Strong foundational knowledge of radiation safety and Quality Management Systems (QMS) related to radiology and diagnostics.
Excellent patient care, customer service, and communication skills.
Demonstrated critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and high attention to detail.
