Job Summary
The Nurse will be based in the Investigations Department, supporting doctors in the analysis of medical claims resulting from road traffic accidents. This role involves providing second medical opinions on the nature and extent of injuries, authenticating medical treatment records, and identifying inconsistencies between hospital and police records. The role holder is responsible for detecting irregular medical records and providing intelligence on fraudulent activities perpetrated in medical facilities.
Duties & Responsibilities
Conduct research and write reports to confirm diagnoses and treatments associated with accident claims.
Submit authenticated medical reports to support the investigations process.
Authenticate, analyze, interpret, and verify medical treatment records pertaining to insurance claims.
Identify inconsistencies between police reports and hospital records to ensure claim accuracy.
Highlight misdiagnoses or irregular medical records that may indicate fraudulent activity.
Prepare comprehensive medical reports and maintain statistics for the department.
Re-examine victims of road traffic accidents to provide an independent second medical opinion.
Provide intelligence regarding fraud perpetrated within medical facilities.
Identify and report specific fraudulent activities and individuals within the medical sector.
Research and present material clearly and concisely for departmental review.
Maintain a high level of discretion and understanding of confidentiality issues.
Support the medical team in understanding various health facility procedures and record-keeping standards.
Work under pressure to meet tight deadlines related to claims processing and investigations.
Execute any other responsibilities communicated by the department from time to time.
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or a Diploma in Nursing (KRCHN/KRN) from a recognized institution.
Must be Registered with the Nursing Council of Kenya with a valid practicing license.
Minimum of two (2) years’ working experience in a busy hospital facility is required.
Working experience within the insurance industry is considered an added advantage.
Superior analytical and report writing skills.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation abilities.
High moral and ethical standards with the ability to defend independent positions on significant issues.
Basic MS Office, word processing, and IT skills.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
High level of integrity, reliability, and attention to detail.
Flexibility to work extra hours to meet deadlines and juggle multiple tasks.
