Job Summary

The Health Records and Information Officer is responsible for managing, maintaining, and safeguarding patient health records and information systems. This role ensures the accuracy, accessibility, and confidentiality of all medical data while maintaining strict compliance with healthcare regulations and standards. The officer plays a key role in the hospital's data-driven approach to quality care and reporting.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate, comprehensive, and up-to-date patient health records.

  • Oversee the proper filing, rapid retrieval, and secure storage of all medical documentation.

  • Monitor and audit the completeness of patient files to ensure clinical standards are met.

  • Capture, verify, and analyze patient data to generate reports for hospital management and regulatory bodies.

  • Safeguard patient confidentiality and ensure that information systems are used in accordance with healthcare standards.

  • Assist in the transition and maintenance of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.

  • Ensure that patient information is accessible to authorized clinical staff for timely decision-making.

  • Implement and maintain organizational systems that support time-efficient records management.


Qualifications & Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Health Records and Information Technology or a related field.

  • Must be Registered with the relevant professional body.

  • Minimum of 1 to 3 years of experience in a hospital or healthcare setting.

  • Proficiency in basic computer skills is required.

  • Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems is a significant advantage.

  • Strong attention to detail and analytical reporting skills.

  • Exceptional organizational and time management abilities.
