Job Summary

Antara Health is seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Virtual Care Doctor to be part of the next frontier in healthcare delivery. This role offers a unique opportunity to combine in-person and virtual care approaches, prioritizing patient needs and driving superior health outcomes. The Virtual Care Doctor will provide high-quality care to Antara’s beneficiaries via its virtual platform (text, voice, or video), working closely with Health Navigators, developing virtual care protocols, and ensuring clinical excellence as the company expands.


Key Functions/Responsibilities

  • Manage incoming virtual consultations, providing high-quality clinical care via text, phone, or video for any Antara beneficiary seeking virtual care services.
  • Support the Health Navigation team to ensure the best possible healthcare experience for Antara’s beneficiaries.
  • Generate and adapt clinical pathways/protocols for the Antara team, promoting best practices.
  • Liaise with Antara’s clinical service providers’ clinical team to harmonize protocols and pathways, ensuring seamless patient journeys.
  • Contribute to the clinical learning and quality control of a team of trained nurses providing Health Navigation.
  • Promote, maintain, and improve the health of beneficiaries through high-quality virtual care encounters, diligent follow-up, and continuous design and updating of clinical best practices for Antara's Health Navigators and clinicians.

Key Deliverables

  • High-quality clinical care consistently provided via Antara’s virtual care platform.
  • Rationalized use of clinical and medication resources, promoting efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • High customer satisfaction rating from beneficiaries.
  • Daily clinical updates on relevant virtual care encounters with clear key learning objectives.
  • Ensure virtual visits are properly logged into the system, with assessments, diagnoses, and comprehensive plans generated.
  • Follow up with partner providers for any critical and necessary information required to effectively manage the beneficiary’s case, including care management plans and prescriptions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • MBChB qualification or higher.
  • Experience working in a community-based setting for at least 1 to 2 years (preferred).
  • Superior written and oral fluency in Swahili and English (required).
  • Oral fluency in local languages is important (an added advantage).
  • Experience working in a multicultural setting.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and customer relationship management (CRM) systems.
  • Experience in administrative or accounting/finance functions (preferred).
  • Superior communication skills, including proven listening skills and the ability to communicate appropriately in a medical setting.
  • Ability and willingness to provide emotional support, encouragement, and motivation to patients.
  • Ability to treat customers with the highest degree of respect and discretion.
