Job Summary
The Co-operative University of Kenya is seeking a Registered Clinical Officer to provide comprehensive clinical care to students, faculty, and staff within the university's health services. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing and treating illnesses, providing health education, and ensuring a healthy and safe environment for the university community in Nairobi.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Conducting patient consultations, taking medical histories, and performing physical examinations.
- Diagnosing common medical conditions and providing appropriate treatment.
- Prescribing and administering medications according to established protocols.
- Ordering and interpreting basic laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures.
- Providing health education and counseling to patients on various health topics.
- Managing minor injuries and illnesses.
- Providing first aid and emergency care as needed.
- Maintaining accurate and confidential patient records.
- Referring patients to specialists or higher-level healthcare facilities when necessary.
- Collaborating with other healthcare professionals within the university health services.
- Ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and university policies.
- Being flexible and ready to work according to assigned duty schedules.
- Demonstrating excellent customer service skills when interacting with patients and the university community.
- Being willing to work with the youth (students).
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess a Diploma/ Higher Diploma/ Bachelor's degree in Clinical Medicine and Community Health from an accredited or recognized Institution.
- Evidence of continuing medical education will be an added advantage.
- Must be registered as a Clinical Officer with the Clinical Officers Council.
- Must hold a valid practicing license.
- Must be a member of a relevant professional body.
- Must be computer literate.
- Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
- Be flexible and ready to work according to duty allocation.
- Must be willing to work with the youth.
- Should not have a record of professional misconduct.
- Any specialization will be an added advantage.
