Job Summary
The Plumbing Technician will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining pipes, fixtures, and other plumbing systems at The Meru National Polytechnic. This role involves inspecting plumbing systems, troubleshooting issues, working from blueprints, and ensuring all work meets safety and quality standards.
Job Responsibilities:
- Install, repair, and maintain various pipes, fixtures, and other essential plumbing systems throughout the Polytechnic facilities.
- Inspect existing plumbing systems thoroughly to proactively identify potential issues, leaks, or malfunctions before they escalate.
- Read and interpret blueprints and strictly follow building codes to accurately execute plumbing work according to specifications and regulations.
- Diagnose and effectively troubleshoot a wide range of plumbing problems to determine the root cause and implement appropriate solutions.
- Collaborate effectively with contractors, electricians, and other relevant professionals when necessary and as authorized by a senior officer to ensure seamless project completion.
- Provide excellent customer service to Polytechnic staff and maintain a professional and courteous demeanour at all times.
- Ensure that all plumbing work performed consistently meets industry safety and quality standards to guarantee the safety and functionality of the systems.
Job Specifications
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:
- Have attained a Craft Certificate in Plumbing from a recognized institution.
- Possess a Certificate in Government Trade Test Grade III in plumbing.
- Have at least 1 year of practical plumbing experience.
- Possess a strong knowledge of plumbing codes and relevant safety regulations.
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Possess good communication and customer service skills to interact effectively with colleagues and address plumbing-related concerns.
