Job Summary
The Nursing Supervisor will be responsible for providing leadership and guidance to the nursing staff, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care, and fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment. This role requires a dedicated individual with strong leadership and interpersonal skills to inspire and manage the clinical team at Greenview Nursing Home in Kericho.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide strong leadership and guidance to the nursing team, promoting a positive and professional work environment.
- Supervise and evaluate nursing staff performance, providing constructive feedback and support for professional development.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality and patient-centered nursing care in accordance with established standards and protocols.
- Oversee the implementation of nursing policies and procedures, ensuring compliance and best practices.
- Manage nursing schedules and assignments to ensure adequate staffing levels and efficient workflow.
- Mentor and train nursing staff, including new hires and junior nurses, to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among nursing staff, other healthcare professionals, and departments.
- Address patient and family concerns or complaints in a timely and professional manner.
- Participate in the development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives within the nursing department.
- Ensure the proper maintenance of patient records and documentation according to hospital policies.
- Monitor the use of medical supplies and equipment, ensuring efficient utilization and timely restocking.
- Promote a culture of safety and adherence to infection control protocols among the nursing staff.
- Participate in regular meetings and provide reports on nursing activities and challenges.
- Assist in the recruitment and retention of qualified nursing personnel.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the management to support the effective operation of the nursing department in Kericho.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
- Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in a nursing role.
- Valid Nursing License from the relevant regulatory body in Kenya.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships and communicate effectively with staff, patients, and families.
- Proven ability to manage and resolve conflicts effectively.
- Comprehensive knowledge of nursing principles, practices, and standards.
- Ability to make sound clinical judgments and decisions.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and maintaining up-to-date knowledge in nursing practices.
