Job Summary
As a Clinical Officer at Penda Health, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive and high-quality clinical services to patients. You will have the autonomy to treat patients independently and make clinical decisions, supported by well-established guidelines, innovative technology, and experienced clinical mentors. Your commitment to evidence-based medicine and creating positive patient experiences will be highly valued.
Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive and high-quality clinical services to patients, including thorough history taking, conducting physical examinations, and prescribing appropriate treatment plans.
- Order relevant investigations, accurately interpret the results for diagnosis, and clearly explain the findings and intended treatment to patients.
- Attend to medical emergencies presenting at the clinic and make informed recommendations for referrals in cases that exceed the clinic's management capabilities.
- Perform minor surgical procedures as outlined in Penda’s service schedules and within your scope of practice.
- Ensure that all necessary observations and vital signs are recorded, prescribed treatments and procedures are carried out diligently, and all information is accurately documented on patients’ charts.
- Create phenomenal patient experiences by providing empathetic counseling and conducting informative health talks on preventive and promotive health measures.
- Embrace, actively learn, and continuously develop within an evidence-based medical system that aligns with Penda’s established protocols and guidelines.
- You may be assigned additional tasks within the Medical Centre as required by the Branch Manager or the Clinical Officer in-charge.
- Actively participate in continuous professional development (CPD) activities to stay updated with the latest advancements in medical practices and technology.
Key Requirements and Attributes
- Minimum of 2 years of post-internship work experience in a clinical setting.
- Must be registered with the Clinical Officers Council of Kenya and possess a valid practicing license.
- Hold a Diploma, Higher Diploma, or Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Clinical Medicine from a recognized institution.
- Possess a valid Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
