Job Summary

The Centre Manager will be responsible for the technical and clinical service provision, business management, operational management, client-centered care, quality management, and people management within the Marie Stopes center, ensuring the delivery of high-quality sexual and reproductive health services.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide all clinical services to a consistently high standard and in accordance with clinical guidelines and protocols, including all short and long-term contraceptive methods, post-abortion care (PAC), cervical cancer screening and treatment, HIV/STI screening and treatment, and specified primary healthcare services.
  • Conduct weekly checks of essential equipment and promptly report any issues.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and infection control measures.
  • Ensure instruments are appropriately sterilized and stored.
  • Order medical supplies and consumables in good time.
  • Ensure proper storage of medical supplies.
  • Support clients through the provision of vocal local techniques during procedures.
  • Attend clinical training and supervision as required.
  • Induct new team members and ensure proper use of the E-HR system.
  • Prepare annual business plans with SMART objectives and strategic plans.
  • Continually assess all areas of service provision to ensure financial viability.
  • Continually review the efficiency of the center, especially with regards to core services.
  • Deliver the Centre's Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) through monitoring income and expenditure.
  • Run monthly performance management meetings with the team.
  • Instill a marketing culture within the team and agree on marketing activities.
  • Strengthen appropriate referrals with other RHN providers, CHWs, and pharmacies.
  • Ensure prudent financial management with no leakage or fraudulent activities.
  • Optimize client numbers by efficiently managing human resources and maintaining effective client flow.
  • Ensure compliance with national healthcare guidelines and MSI protocols.
  • Ensure an appropriate contingency plan is in place.
  • Ensure adequate stock levels of required supplies and commodities.
  • Take overall responsibility for team, client, and general safety in the Centre.
  • Ensure the utilization and close supervision of EHR resources, biometrics, dispensing scanners, and CCTVs.
  • Manage the center teams to ensure the delivery of excellent client-centered care.
  • Ensure all team members treat clients with dignity, respect, and non-judgment.
  • Ensure team members maintain client privacy and obtain consent before contact.
  • Support the team to collect and action client feedback and handle complaints respectfully.
  • Promote and maintain the quality management systems.
  • Ensure client feedback and prompt resolution of complaints.
  • Ensure all team members are competency assessed before delivering services.
  • Ensure all team members understand the principles of duty of care and code of conduct.
  • Monitor all team members' adherence to MSK/MSI policies.
  • Engage and motivate all team members to achieve center objectives and KPIs.
  • Clearly define structured local induction plans for new team members.
  • Take immediate and appropriate action in the event of misconduct or underperformance.
  • Put in place mechanisms for effective communication with team members.
  • Create a learning environment and assess training needs.
  • Actively take responsibility for own personal development.
  • Maintain accurate and complete client records on the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Ensure all client information is kept confidential and stored appropriately.
  • Collate all activity data accurately and timely for reporting purposes.
  • Analyze activity trends and ensure performance targets are achieved.
  • Assist in the collection of client feedback data.
  • Refer clients promptly when needed.
  • Offer quality services including the full spectrum of Marie Stopes services.
  • Ensure proper use of medical equipment and supplies and report any issues.
  • Report all major and minor incidents within 24 hours.
  • Actively promote the work of the center to generate demand for services.
  • Positively promote Marie Stopes Kenya.
  • Undertake other professional responsibilities assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree/Diploma in a health-related field (nursing/clinical medicine).
  • Must be registered with the relevant professional council and possess a valid Practice License.
  • At least 4 years of working experience as a service provider in a reputable hospital/medical facility.
  • Business and management training will be an added advantage.
  • Training and practicing knowledge of Sexual Reproductive Health (FP-LARC and PAC) will be an advantage.
