Job Summary
The Laboratory Technologist will be responsible for preparing and conducting practicals for undergraduate and postgraduate students, maintaining chemical stores, assisting in research and fieldwork, and ensuring the safe disposal of laboratory waste. This role involves providing technical support for laboratory sessions, maintaining equipment, and contributing to the smooth operation of the laboratory environment.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Setting up objective structured clinical examination sessions for student assessments.
- Assisting in preparations for student practicals in laboratories.
- Providing technical information about test results to students and researchers.
- Receiving and inspecting laboratory equipment and materials.
- Preparing and implementing the use of standard operating procedures in the laboratory.
- Ensuring proper disposal of laboratory waste.
- Maintaining a record of laboratory stock and stock control.
- Maintaining proper inventory of the materials and equipment in the laboratory.
- Carrying out stock-taking exercises at the end of every quarter of the Financial Year in liaison with the stores section of procurement and Finance Departments for purposes of quarterly account report preparation.
- Carrying out other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications & Requirements
- A Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Sciences from a recognized academic institution.
- Must have at least three (3) years of work experience at the level of Laboratory Technologist in an institution of higher learning.
- Must be a registered member of The Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologist Board with a valid practicing license.
- Should be proficient in relevant computer applications.
